Our customers will soon see even more work getting underway as part of the biggest ever upgrade to the region’s water networks as we’re set to deliver our largest-ever single year of investment.
From April 2026, £1.6 billion of improvements in a single year are set to be made to the region’s water and sewerage infrastructure – a 9% increase from last year, making this our largest ever year of investment. We’ll be delivering brand new infrastructure and upgrades to improve performance that will deliver on the promises made to customers, while building more resilience against the impacts of climate change.
We do everything we can to keep our bills affordable, and water bills are still one of the cheapest household bills. But delivering the services and environmental protecting that we know customers expect, does mean we need to spend more on that infrastructure today.
But we know an increase in bills can be difficult to manage, which is why we want customers to know we’re here to help. We have a £106 million package of support for customers who are struggling to pay their water bill and our specially-trained teams are already helping more than 300,000 people every year with tailored support.
