Building an Inclusive Workplace
At Anglian Water, we believe that an inclusive culture is essential for doing good business and ensuring the long-term health of our organisation. A diverse workforce fosters idea generation, enhances adaptability, and equips us to face future challenges.
Our culture, rooted in openness, respect, and honesty, is strengthened by this inclusive approach. While we care deeply about protecting our culture, we also recognise the need for it to evolve, addressing any weaknesses and remaining supportive. We strive to maintain a balance of caring personally while challenging each other directly, enabling us to be innovative, agile, and ready to meet future challenges together.
Dress code
Some roles require specific protective gear or branded clothing for professionalism. Otherwise, wear what’s comfortable, suitable for your environment, and respectful to colleagues and visitors. We impose no hairstyle restrictions and support authenticity, though a few roles prohibit beards for safety reasons. Above all, prioritise safety in your attire.
Holiday swaps
We recognise that not all our employees celebrate Christian holidays, and we are therefore offering employees who practice other religions to swap Christmas day, Boxing Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday for a religious festival from their faith.
Transition policy
To support colleagues considering, undergoing, or who have undergone gender reassignment, we have a policy that provides guidance for line managers on how to offer inclusive and respectful support.
Age-friendly employer pledge
We are proud signatories to the Age-friendly employer pledge – showing our commitment to improving work for people in their 50s and 60s and taking the necessary action to help them flourish in a multigenerational workforce.
Assistive Technology
Providing our employees with a range of products or systems that support and help individuals be the best they can be.
Social Mobility Pledge
Joining several hundred organisations globally, we have a commitment to boost opportunity and social mobility and are proud to be playing a part in closing the opportunity gap.
Disability Confident
Becoming a Disability Confident Employer has helped give us direction and guidance in ensuring we are inclusive to candidates, customers and colleagues with disabilities. We’re learning to identify potential barriers to the disabled community, both internally and externally, and have put strategies and solutions in place to overcome them.
Employers Initiative on Domestic Abuse
The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) is a network of employers, free to join, that supports over 1,800 businesses, large and small. Collectively, these businesses represent over 25% of the UK workforce, and they work together to take effective action against domestic abuse.
By fostering greater awareness, building relationships, and sharing best practices, EIDA aims to bring about systemic change in the way domestic abuse is addressed in the UK. To support our position on Domestic Abuse we have a Domestic Abuse Policy.
We are proud to be part of the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), a network of over 1,800 businesses working together to take effective action against domestic abuse. By signing up, we’ve committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for our employees, ensuring they have access to the right resources and help when needed.
