Anglian Water’s @one Alliance

About Anglian Water’s @one Alliance

Over the last 20 years, Anglian Water’s @one Alliance has been trusted with delivering over £4bn of Anglian Water’s Capital Delivery programme across our water and water recycling network.  With another £3bn portfolio in place for AMP8 (2025-2030) the @one Alliance will deliver over 800 schemes across the East of England!

They are a key part of the Anglian Water eco-system, committed to bringing environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve.

The @one Alliance, formed of eight partner organisations Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, Mott MacDonald Bentley, MWH Treatment, Skanska and Sweco, was introduced in AMP4 (2005-2010) as an innovative strategic delivery vehicle for Anglian Water’s Integrated Main Works programme.

By going beyond infrastructure to deliver meaningful & lasting impact and by working hand in hand with local communities, our supply chain and regional partners, they co-create sustainable solutions that build climate resilience, create jobs, and foster inclusive growth.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Diverse, skilled, and empowered to engineer a better future for all. Together, we champion ethical delivery of our projects, environmental leadership and strive to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

We’re not just building infrastructure – we’re engineering the future together.

Mark Thurston - Anglian Water Chief Executive

“The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a vital part of our organisation, trusted by Anglian Water to deliver some of its most significant and complex schemes across our region. They’re experts in their field and we couldn’t deliver our portfolio without their hard work.”

@one projects around our region

Blue Boar Lane
Whitlingham
Broadholme
Holywell Row
Blue Boar Lane

This £1.7m sewer rehabilitation saw our team repair over 650 meters of pipework along Blue Boar Lane in Norwich. Working alongside Vanderkamp UK our teams used an over pumping solution to divert the existing main while they relined the damaged pipes Doing this extended the lifespan of the existing pipe by over 60 years, all without needing to dig up the road along the pipes path.

Whitlingham

At our site in Whitlingham, Norfolk we’re increasing the processing efficiency of the treatment works from 20,000 tons of sludge a year to just under 27,000 tons! To do this our team have demolished the old concrete tanks to make way for two brand new digester tanks due to be completed by the end of 2025.

Broadholme

We’re investing £35m at our Broadholme site in Northamptonshire where we’re upgrading the capacity of the treatment works by building four new Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) tanks.

The concrete bases the tanks are built on needed over 300 concrete mixing trucks!

Holywell Row

At Holywell Row in Suffolk we’re installing five pipes measuring 1500mm in diameter and 45 metres in length. These pipes will hold excess rainwater which builds during stormy conditions before releasing it back into the network at a manageable rate.

This system has been designed to withstand a 1-in-30-year storm!

The evolution of the @one Alliance

Since its formation in 2005, the @one Alliance has grown into one of the UK water industry’s leading infrastructure partnerships. Our journey across successive Asset Management Periods (AMPs) reflects a legacy of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
