This approach allows us to deliver work more efficiently, keeping costs down and making sure each project provides the best possible value.
Each of our Strategic Alliances has a clear purpose. Some focus on maintaining and repairing our network, whilst others deliver large-scale construction projects, install smart meters or build new pipelines.
But every project benefits from the unique skills, experience and perspectives that each team members brings – including you!
Our Strategic Alliances, @one and SPA are set up to deliver significant but different sections of our Capital Delivery Programme. Each Alliance plays a unique role in our Capital Delivery Programme, offering exciting opportunities to work on industry-leading initiatives. By joining one of our Alliances, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team working on essential projects that support millions of people.
Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA)
The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is delivering a 330km pipeline, along with critical infrastructure, to improve water movement across the region. This ambitious project strengthens our resilience against droughts and flooding—making a real impact on communities – moving water to where our customers need it the most.
@one Alliance
The @one Alliance delivers a range of complex capital delivery schemes as part of its £3bn portfolio, including building water and wastewater pipelines and upgrading water treatment works and water recycling centres. This includes projects like storm tanks, phosphorus removal, and treatment enhancements to keep pace with the growing demands of our region.
If you join one of our Strategic Alliances, your employer will be one of our partner organisations. Each partner brings specialist expertise, and we work together as one collaborative team to keep water flowing across our region.

All our partner organisations build their own benefits & reward packages. These have been designed to best meet the needs of their employees in the specialised roles they fill.
Yes! Some teams work across both @one and SPA. These "Pan-Alliance" roles focus on areas like recruitment, health and safety, and HR, where we can share best practices.
Our Embedded Alliances include IOS (Integrated Operational Solutions) and IMRDS (Integrated Maintenance, Repair and Developer Services).
They work on smaller schemes that enable the smooth operation of our network and treatment works, including installing over 1 million smart meters!
Our Strategic Alliances are set up to deliver complex schemes that expand the capacity and efficiency of our network. For example, @one building a £12m extension to our Towcester works or SPA delivering the sections of its 330km pipeline.
An AMP or Asset Management Period is a five-year period in which English water companies deliver against their business plan. These business plans are approved by the water regulator Ofwat at the start of each AMP.
The newest Asset Management Period, AMP8 will run from 2025 through to 2030. As part of the new AMP Anglian Water will deliver its largest ever business plan of £11bn!
