Paul – Maintenance Technician

“Whilst in the Army, I served in the Royal Regiment of Artillery for seven years and achieved the rank of Bombardier. It was a high pressure, physically-demanding role that I enjoyed greatly. I was deployed on operations in Afghanistan as well as various other places around the world.

“I liked the idea of working outdoors and the variety of work interested me too.”

Prior to joining the Army, I was a Qualified Electrician, so making the transition back to civilian life was fairly straight forward and I was lucky enough to start working at Anglian Water the week after I left my unit.

If you’re thinking about making the move out of the Armed Forces, I’d recommend speaking to The Career Transition Partnership. They’ll provide support throughout the whole process and help with any courses you need to reach your goal. I’d recommend using them as much as possible.

Engage with your chain of command – they can also play a big part in the resettlement process.

Anglian Water provides lots of additional bonuses like a good pension, private healthcare and many other benefits all of which were very appealing.”
